Welcome Reception :
An informal welcoming reception will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2004, at 17:30. All participants are welcome to attend.
The Welcome Reception will be offered by Science Council of Japan, Acoustical Society of Japan and Institute of Noise Control Engineering. At Welcome Reception, drinks up to two glasses are free of charge. You will find two drink-tickets on your ticket sheet in your bag. You can receive a glass of drink in exchange for a ticket. So, be sure to take the tickets to Welcome Reception. Drinks after the third glass will be available but are charged.

Banquet :
The ICA2004 will host a banquet on Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at 19:00 in the garden of the Congress venue if the climate allows. You will fully enjoy cherry blossoms together with Japanese traditional music and performance on a stage in the garden. Participants who have paid the Banquet fee in advance will receive a ticket for the Banquet with other congress materials at the registration desk. A small number of Banquet tickets are also available at the registration desk.

ICA2004 Kyoto Concert :
All participants and accompanying persons will be invited to the concert held in the evening of Thursday 8th April 2004 at Kyoto Concert Hall. The concert will be organized by ICA2004 Organizing Committee, City of Kyoto and Kyoto City Cultural Promotion Foundation. In the concert, some simple experiments/demonstrations on concert hall acoustics will be presented, followed by performance given by Mariko Senju, violin, with The Ritsumeikan University Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kazuaki Momiyama. Kyoto Concert Hall is within 3 min. walk from City Subway (Karasuma Line), Kitayama station (the second station from Kokusai Kaikan station, the nearest station to the Congress Venue ).

Coffee :
Coffee will be available during whole the session hours in Event Hall, where poster sessions, technical exhibitions and various courses of Social Program will be held. Please enjoy the aroma of coffee sneaking out of the sessions.

Hospitality Desk (at General Information Desk) :
Hospitality desks will be opened near the registration area. JTB(Japan Travel Bureau) Co. Ltd., official travel agent, and its sister company Sunrise Tours Co. Ltd. will be at the Hospitality Desk with some assistant students to provide attendees with travel information, sight-seeing plans and shopping guides, and to make reservations for trains and airlines.

Social Programs (at Event Hall) :
Following courses will be given by WAK Japan for attending ladies and gentlemen. All courses are planned to be on-site registration base, free of charge. There, however, will be maximum capacity for each course, so registration will be closed when the number of applicants reaches the capacity. A tentative schedule is as follows:
  • Japanese Calligraphy : April 5 (Mon.) morning, max. about 20 persons
    (You can take your work to home as a souvenir after being exhibited for some days.)
  • Flower Arrangement : April 6(Tue.) morning, max. about 20 persons
    (Your work will be exhibited at exhibition corner during the rest of the Congress period.)
  • Wearing "KIMONO": April. 7(Wed.) afternoon, max 3 persons each.
    (You will be able to attend the Banquet in "KIMONO".)
  • Japanese Language Lessons April 8(Thu.) morning, max about 20 persons
    (Simple sentences for conversations and introductory grammar.)
  • Tea Ceremony: April 9(Fri.) morning, max about 20 persons
    (Tea Ceremony is an ideal way to experience typical Japanese aesthetics.)
  • Paper Folding April 6(Tue.) and 8(Thu.) afternoon, max. about 20 persons
    (Japanese art of folding paper into various shapes such as animals and birds. )
  • Japanese Language and Culture April 5(Mon.) afternoon, max. about 20 persons
    (Various topics on Japan and its Language)
Japanese tea and snacks will be served at the tea corner in Exhibition Hall.
