1. Organization and Management

3. Activities
CPIJ assigns its Committees to carry out various tasks and research. These Committees are mainly divided into two groups, the Common Committee, which is established as a permanent committee, and the Special Committee that deals with rather specific research, driven by the needs of the Academic Society. In addition, various research works have been conducted by several smaller sub-committees. Common Committee consists of 7 groups as follows:

General Affairs Coordinates and communicates among the committees; considers and helps set general policy; proposes new ventures; coordinates with other organizations domestically and generally manages the smooth running of CPIJ.
Editorial Committee Responsible for planning, editing, and publishing the bi-monthly journal “City Planning,” and for acting as a conduit for information exchange among the general membership.
Academic Committee Provides peer review of general research reports and official papers, and produces a compilation of such reports for publication. Conducts an annual conference to present selected research. Solicits urban planning reports quarterly, and complies these in an annual collection as well.
Project Committee In addition to planning and conducting the annual City Planning seminar, this committee also supports member research by planning monthly get-togethers, site visits, and other activities.
Information Committee Collects and collates urban-planning articles and news from both professional and general media sources; publishes an annual bibliography of sources and works on providing electronic searches of the available data.
International Committee Provides peer review of papers for presentation at international urban planning symposia, and collects and publishes those papers (including foreign submissions) in years when such symposia are held. Responsible for publishing the bi-annual CPIJ Newsletter for foreign readers. Manages academic exchanges with related organizations worldwide.
Awards Committee Responsible for awarding Institute prizes to research, planning, and other activities which contributed significantly to academic and technological progress in the field. May present other awards to individuals who show exceptional dedication to promoting the goals of CPIJ.

In addition to the Common Committee, the Special Committees of CPIJ consist of the Special Committee for Problems Solving, Special Committee and Academic Society for Research on Management of the City Planning Law, and the Committee for Vision of 21st Century.

4. Activities of the Branches of CPIJ
Except of the headquarter that is located in Tokyo, CPIJ has 4 branches in Chubu, Kansai, Kyushu, and Chugoku-Shikoku. Each branch carries out research and other related activities that are appropriate for the conditions of each region. It is anticipated that in the future the activities of each branch will develop based on the regional needs.
