Creating the East Asian Community
The East Asian Community is evolving with strength in the 21st century, the Asian Age. The global digital revolution has shaped history as well as geography through the closer interdependencies among peoples and nations in the Asia Pacific, with the historic moves toward the symbiotic regionalization.
We, as concerned intellectuals both in academia and business, have established the Asian-wide society of the studies and policy proposals for Asian regionalization. We are to mold an epistemological community networking with the citizens across the national borders in the region, to nurture an Asian identity, and to play a forerunner of the evolving East Asian Community, which is our common dream to come true.
We are living up to the philosophy of community building, ”power comes from collaboration.” We are backing up those inter-governmental policy coordinating works represented by the Council of East Asian Community (CEAC), the semi-official country coordinator based on the framework of NEAT( Network of East Asian Think-Tanks ). We are practicing the role of a professional organization in terms of “track two” diplomacy, to mobilize the knowledge and expertise in each field of regional policies.
We place the secretariat of the Society here in Japan to cooperate closely with specialists and think-tanks in each country of the region, to engage in the study meetings and international symposia, and to open our activities to the public and media.
Hence, we appeal to all those interested in contributing an intellectual investment in the future of East Asia to deliver small in order to develop grand, and to create the East Asian Community.
