This academic organization was founded on Oct. 11, 1998, to promote academic
research in transpersonal psychology/psychiatry and related fields.
The research activities of JATP include:
- Psychological
and psychiatric studies in human growth and potentiality.
- Studies of
altered or nonordinary states of consciousness.
- Integration
of Western psychology and Eastern or shamanistic spiritual disciplines.
- Promotion
of inter- or transdisciplinary discussion in transpersonal studies.
- Endeavor
to establish a new worldview that encompasses transpersonal experiences
and spiritual potentialities of humanity.
To achieve this goal, we
- hold
annual conferences and symposia
- publish
academic journals and newsletters
- establish
cooperative relations with related organizations of Japan and abroad
- do other
projects to promote transpersonal studies in Japan
