| A limited number of travel awards are available for students of coral reef science, preferably from the developing world, to attend the Symposium and present oral papers or posters. The STAP (Student Travel Award Program), which is cooperatively funded by the International Society for Reef Studies (ISRS) and the Local Organizing Committee, covers round-trip transportation to Okinawa, conference registration, and accommodation. |

| (a) |
Full name, date of birth, institution, address, telephone and fax number, and e-mail address. |
| (b) |
A two-page essay (A4, double space) that briefly describes the research in which the student is engaged, and which he/she intends to present as a manuscript and presentation at the 10th ICRS. Also, please include a paragraph on the financial reasons for seeking financial assistance. |
| (c) |
The cost of the least expensive economy round-trip fare between the applicant's institution and Okinawa, quoted in JPY, should be indicated.
Applications should be sent to the Secretariat no later than October 31, 2003 by airmail. E-mail is not accepted. The number of grants will depend upon the amount of contributions that the Local Organizing Committee receives. Applicants will be notified decision of the STAP review committee by e-mail or airmail by December 15, 2003. |

| Additional LOC Financial Support (LOCAP) -Submission Closed- |

The Local Organizing Committee is preparing another financial assistance program for supporting young researchers of coral reef science to attend the 10th ICRS from developing world. It consists of two kinds of grants. The first one is an award to cover round-trip transportation to Okinawa, conference registrationfee, and hotel charges during the symposium(from June 27 to July 3 morning) (Full Coverage), and the second is a privilege to exempt the applicant from the conference registration fee only (Partial Coverage). The number of grants will depend upon the amount of contributions that the Local Organizing Committee receives.
Applications Must Include:
(a)Clear indication of your choice, whether (1) Full Coverage or (2) Partial Co
verage.
(b)Full name, date of birth, institution, address, telephone and fax number, an
d e-mail address.
(c) A two-page essay (A4, double space) that briefly describes the result of re
search in which the applicant is engaged, and the extended summary of the paper
which he/she intends to present at the 10th ICRS. Also, please include a parag
raph on the reason for seeking financial assistance, and
