Dear Colleagues,

The Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation (APEC), the Korean Academy of Endodontics (KAE) and Japan Endodontic Association (JEA) are going to co-host the 15th APEC Scientific Congress which will be held in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, 24th April to Sunday, 26th April 2009.
Welcome to Tokyo, Japan! APEC and KAE-JEA would cordially like to invite you all to the special session of APEC –“The Fusion of Science and Modern Art”-.
APEC was founded in 1985 for the promotion and development of high standards of endodontic research, teaching and clinical practice in the Asia Pacific region. Great emphasis has been placed on biological aspects of endodontic lesions, and recently clinical arts have been in the headline (eg, conventional and surgical techniques using microscopes, retreatment with MTA, laser application, etc.). The internationally renowned and distinguished speakers will update these fields, and we hope the APEC 2009 Scientific Meeting will fulfill not only academic demands but professional relationship among us.
In addition to the specially organized session, we encourage you to participate in free topic presentations in any field of endodontics. We believe that presentations and discussion are the best way to get together and share information on the frontier of endodontic science.

Prof. OKUDA Katsuji (Tokyo Dental College) and Dr. KOJIMA Tamotsu (Tokyo) presented a special lecture respectively. Also one symposium, chaired by Prof. OGISO Bunnnai (Nihon University) and TAGUCHI Masahiro(Tokyo).

8. Journal (JJEA)
The Journal of Japan Endodontic Association is published three times a year. The Journal includes original papers, review articles, news and announcements.

9. Accredited Specialists System
The accredited specialist system of the Association was founded in 1996. The number of accredited specialists in the Association is 153 as of 31th of Desember 2008.

10. International Relations
1) APEC
JEA is a member of the Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation (APEC).
2) IFEA
JEA is a member of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA).
3) KAE
We entered into an agreement for academic exchange with the Korean Academy of Endodontics (KAE) on July 6th, 2003.
We had the 2nd Joint Scientific Meeting with KAE in conjunction with the 31st Scientific Meeting of KAE at Asan Medical Center Auditorium in Seoul, Korea on April 16th, 2004.
The 3rd Joint Scientific Meeting between KAE and JEA was held on July 30th and 31st, 2005 in Tokyo, Japan.
The 4th Joint Science Meeting between JEA and KAE was held on April 15th and 16th, 2006 in Kyung-Joo city, Korea.
The 5th Joint Science Meeting between KAE and JEA was held on May 26th and 27th, 2007 in Hiroshima, Japan.
The 6th Joint Science Meeting between JEA and KAE was held on April 26th and 27th, 2008 in Gwangju, Korea.

7. Scientific Meetings

The Annual General Meeting of the Associaton,chaired Prof.Katsuumi Ichiro(Nippon Dental University, School of Dentistry at Tokyo) in conjunction with the 3rd Joint Meeting KAE and JEA was held in Tokyo on 30th and 31st July 2005. Professor Emeritus Fuzita Kouichiro(Tokyo Medical and Dental University) and Professor Sato Yoshinobu(Kyorin University) presented a special lecture respectively. Also,Professor Yong bum Cho(Dankook University Cheonan Korea) presented a invited lecture. The 2006 Annual General Meeting,chaired Professor Matsuo Takashi(Tokushima University),will be held on 29th and 30th of July in Tokushima,Japan.

8. Journal (JJEA)

The Journal of Japan Endodontic Association is published three times a year. The Journal includes original papers, review articles, news and announcements.

9. Accredited Specialists System

The accredited specialist system of the Association was founded in 1996. The number of accredited specialists in the Association is 186 as of 9th of December 2005.

1) APEC

  1. JEA is a member of the Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation (APEC).
  2. JEA Councillor of APEC is Prof. NAKAMURA Hiroshi.

2) IFEA

  1. JEA is a member of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA).
  2. JEA Councillor of IFEA is Prof. SUDA Hideaki.
  3. Prof. SUDA Hideaki and Prof. HORIUCHI Hiroshi gave invited lectures in the IFEA 6th Endodontic World Congress held in Brisbane, Australia, from 8th to 11th of September 2004.

3) KAE

  1. We entered into an agreement for academic exchange with the Korean Academy of Endodontics (KAE) on 6th of July, 2003.
  2. We had the 2nd Joint Scientific Meeting with KAE in conjunction with the 31st Scientific Meeting of KAE at Asan Medical Center Auditorium in Seoul, Korea on April 16th ,2004.
  3. The 3rd Joint Scientific Meeting between KAE and JEA was held on 30th and 31st of July 2005, in Tokyo, Japan.
  4. The 4th Joint Science Meeting between JEA and KAE will be held on 15th and 16th of Aprial 2006,in Kyung-Joo city ,Korea.

The 2005 Annual General Meeting, chaired by Prof. KATSUUMI Ichiro (Nippon Dental University School of Dentistry at Tokyo), will be held on 30th and 31st July in Tokyo.

Dr. Kenneth A Koch (U.S.A.) presented a special lecture entitled, “Design concepts of rotary instruments” in the Meeting. Also, Prof. Chan-Ui Hong (Dankook University, Republic of Korea) presented a special lecture, “The effect of root surface treatment to reduce the replacement root resorption in delayed replantation cases: what is the best way?”. The 2004 Annual General Meeting, chaired by Prof. Kouichi Kawasaki (Nippon Dental University School of Dentistry at Niigata), will be held on 10th and 11th of July in Niigata, Japan.
