Background
The Japanese Society of Conservative Dentistry, founded in 1955, is made up of specialists from all dental schools in Japan. Our members also include private and hospital dental practitioners. We remain the only dental society that covers the whole area of conservative dentistry, i.e., operative dentistry, endodontics and periodontology, in Japan.

The society had 4,388 members and 54 honorary members as of 1 December 2010
General assembly
General Membership Meeting is held once a year in conjunction with the spring scientific meeting. Extraordinary Membership Meeting may be held in conjunction with the autumn scientific meeting.

Dental specialist system
The system for accredited specialist has been continued since 1991, to raise the quality in the area of conservative dentistry. The number of accredited specialists was 796 including 315 supervisors as of 1 December 2010.
International exchange
The Japanese Society of Conservative Dentistry (JSCD) signed a friendship agreement with the Korean Academy of Conservative Dentistry (KACD) on 1997. According to this agreement, international joint meetings are held every year, alternately in Japan and Korea. The 13th JSCD/KSCD Joint-Scientific Meeting will be held in Korea in 2011.
