As of March 31, 2003, the JSEG has 2388 individual members (including 221 National Group members of the IAEG) and 127 associated members
(including 11 associated members of the IAEG).
Activities The JSEG held its General Assembly in Tokyo on May 24, 2002, where 187 people attended, accompanying a technical symposium with a theme "Tendency and
prospect of Rock Mass Classification " .
An annual study meeting was held in Takamatsu on October 31 and November 1, 2002 with 292 participants and 116 technical papers.
A presentation on overseas excursions for South Africa in 2002 was held in Tokyo on May 19, 2003 with 22 participants and 23 papers.
Japan Earth and Planetary Science Joint Meeting was held in Tokyo on May 27 to 31 ,2002 under cosponsored by JSEG with 2792 participants and 2015 papers.
Six journals of the JSEG were published: Volume 43, No.1 to No.6.
The JSEG held its General Assembly in Tokyo on May 30, 2003, accompanying a technical symposium with a theme "Review on the Investigation and Evaluation for Underground Environmenth.
The JSEG held an annual study meeting in Sapporo on October 16 and 17, 2003.
The Japan Earth and Planetary Science Joint Meeting was held in Chiba on May 26 to 29 , 2003 under cosponsored by JSEG.
Six journals of the JSEG was published: Volume 44, No.1 to No.6.

Activities The JSEG held its General Assembly in Tokyo on May 25, 2001, where 666 people attended, accompanying a technical symposium with a theme "Re-estimation of
Geophysical Prospecting in Engineering Geology".
A presentation on overseas excursions for Brazil and Peru in 2000 was held in Tokyo on August 28, 2001 with 23 participants and 14 papers.
A symposium on "Engineering Geology for Tunneling" was held in Tokyo on October 9, 2001 with 201 participants.
An annual study meeting was held in Fukushima on October 31 and November 1, 2001 with 233 participants and 90 technical papers. In the meeting we had a special
lecture on "Current Trend of Prediction for Volcanic Activities".
Six journals of the JSEG were published: Volume 42, No.1 to No.6.

Activities The JSEG held its General Assembly in Tokyo on May 26, 2000, where 560 people attended, accompanying a technical symposium with a theme "Current Issues of
Hazard Map for Slope Instability".
A presentation on overseas excursions for Malaysia and Nepal in 1999 was held in Tokyo on July 14, 2000 with 39 participants and 35 papers.
Two symposiums on "Consideration on Engineering Geology for the 1999 Chi-Chi Taiwan Earthquake" and "Modeling of Basement in Urban District for Disaster
Prevention" were held in Tokyo on July 26, 2000 with 129 participants.
An annual study meeting was held in Kyoto on October 31 and November 1, 2000 with 234 participants and 91 technical papers. In the meeting we had a special
lecture on "Conservation Geology" by Prof. Ibrahim Komoo.
A symposium on "Topographical Engineering for Mountain Area" was held in Tokyo on November 10, 2000 with 78 participants.
Six journals of the JSEG were published: Volume 41, No.1 to No.6.


International Activities
2000-2003
An overseas excursion for the 9th Congress of IAEG at Durban in South Africa was carried out in September 2002 with 15 participants and 9 papers.
The JSEG dispatched the Secretary General of the Japanese National Group to the IAEG Councilfs meeting for 2002 on September 15, 2002.
The 3rd Asian Symposium of Engineering Geology at Yogyakarta in Indonesia will be held in September 2001. Some members of the JSEG will attend the symposium.
The JSEG dispatched the Secretary General of the Japanese National Group to the IAEG Councilfs meeting for 2001 on August 5, 2001.
An overseas excursion to Brazil and Peru was carried out in August 2000 with 17 participants. Members of the excursion attended the 31st International Geological Congress in Brazil.
An overseas excursion for the 3rd Asian Symposium of Engineering Geology at Yogyakarta in Indonesia was carried out in September 2001 with 12 participants and 15 papers.
