Greetings
gYo-kosoh and a warm welcome to all participants of the 7th Asian Congress of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Radiology, to be held in the ancient city of Nara, Japan.
Nara is located almost at the center of the Japanese archipelago, east of Osaka and south of Kyoto. It was the capital of Japan from 710 to 784. The city's historic monuments | Buddhist temples and the excavated remains of the Imperial Palace | provide vivid pictures of life in the Japanese capital in the 8th century.
In 1998 UNESCO's World Heritage Committee added gHistoric Monuments of Ancient Narah to its World Heritage list of cultural and natural sites. Tourist spots such as Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Shrine, and Nara National Museum are within walking distance from the site of the Congress. The Congress venue itself is in the center of Nara National Park, which is famous for its exceptional beauty and 1,200 tame deer. The main hall has an impressive Noh theater, which has been converted into a multipurpose auditorium. You may be one of those lucky ones who will present a paper at this theater. The theme for the Congress is gOMF Radiology : Innovations and Effective Contributions to the People.h You can attend the special/educational lectures concerning the contemporary state-of-the-art radiology and clinico-radiology conference, as well as both oral and poster scientific sessions. We will have more hands-on workshops for special interest groups. The topics of the symposia are grecent advances in head and neck imagingh and gcone-beam volumetric imaging in the clinical settingh. We invite you to register for Nara ACOMFR 2008, which will prove to be an unforgettable learning experience. Come and enjoy the beauty and culture of Nara at the best season of the year.
We look forward to welcoming you.

Getting To Nara
The most convenient international air facility in the Nara area is Kansai International Airport (KIX, www.kansai-airport.or.jp/english/index.htm), which is 40 km southwest of Osaka City. KIX has direct flights not only to many cities in Asia but also to cities in Europe and the United States.
Transportation to Nara from the airport is available in many forms, but the most reliable way for travelers from outside Japan may be to take an airport bus (www.kate.co.jp/pc/english/english.html). These buses commute between the airport and Nara Hotel/ Nara Station (JR/ Kintetsu) almost every hour from 07:40 to 20:40, and the one-way trip takes about 80 minutes.
If you travel to Nara from Tokyo, the best way is by JR Tokaido Shin-kansen train to Kyoto Station (2 hours and 20 minutes, one way). You will need to change trains at Kyoto for the short ride (45 minutes) to Nara. Miyakoji rapid trains operate every 30 minutes between Kyoto and Nara.
Hotels
Nara Hotel is a luxury hotel. Its rates are about $150-200 for a single occupancy room and $300 for a double. First-class accommodations are available at the Hotel Nikko Nara (JAL Hotels) for about $110 for a single and $200 for a double. Also available are many Japanese-style hotels (ryokan), which are usually slightly more expensive. Lower rate hotels ranging $70-90 are also available. Details of accommodations are shown on the Congress URL. However, because Nara in November is popular for its fall foliage, it is recommended that hotel reservations be made as soon as possible.
