The Journal of Oceanography (JO) is edited by the Oceanographic Society of Japan and published by Terra Scientific Publishing Company / Kluwer Academic Publishers every two months. The historical Journal of Oceanographic Society of Japan (JOSJ) was renewed in 1992 as this journal.
The Journal of Oceanography is open to all oceanographers in the world. The Journal is devoted to the publication of original articles, short contributions, reviews, and correspondence in oceanography and related fields. Submission of a manuscript will imply that it has not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. The editorial board of the Journal decides the acceptance of the manuscript on the basis of peer-reviews and is responsible for its final editing. There will be no page charge, except for color pages.

The Oceanography in Japan is published every two months in Japanese. It contains original papers, contributions, and communication articles for the members.
