The Japan Association for Quaternary Research is a group devoted to the study of the Quaternary period, the last 2.6 million years. This group comprises geologists, geographers, paleontologists, zoologists, botanists, soil scientists, anthropologists, archeologists, geophysicists, geochemists, engineers, and others interested in Quaternary studies. The JAQUA was founded in 1956. Membership is open to all interested in Quaternary studies. This association has now about 1700 members.

The JAQUA holds an annual meeting, and suitably symposias as well as schools, supporting research group meetings. This association publishes six issues per year of Quaternary Research (Daiyonki-kenkyu), and of the Quaternary Newsletter.

JAQUA membership

JAQUA members receive six issues each year of the Quaternary Research (Daiyonki-kenkyu) (in Japanese with English abstract or in English), and of the Quaternary Newsletter (in Japanese). Entry to the mailing list enables to receive more information from the JAQUA, most of which is in Japanese.
