General
Authors transfer the copyright of their articles to Springer effective if and when the articles are accepted for publication. The copyright covers the exclusive and unlimited rights to reproduce and distribute an article in any form of reproduction (printing, electronic media, or any other form); it also covers translation rights for all languages and countries. For U.S. authors the copyright is transferred to the extent transferable.
Articles are classified in two categories: (a) Research Articles: Original papers on analytical or empirical studies. (b) News and commentary: Latest news on environmental issues, with a brief commentary. Maximum 2000 words.
Manuscripts
Submission of a manuscript will be considered to imply that it contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere.
Initial submissions should be prepared following the guidelines below:

Manuscripts should be in 12-point font.

Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout.

Manuscripts should be in PDF format.

Cover letters
The cover letter should include:
- The name(s) of the author(s).
- The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s).
- The e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author.
Manuscripts
A manuscript should not contain information about the author(s). The manuscript should begin with the title and the abstract.
Abstracts
Each submission must include an abstract of no more than 200 words. After the abstract a list of up to 5 keywords that will be useful for indexing or searching should be included. In addition, Journal of Economic Literature classification numbers that identify the subject area of the article should be listed at the end of the abstract.
Abbreviations
All but the most common abbreviations should be spelled out the first time they are used in a manuscript.
Tables
All tables should contain a caption and be on a separate page of the manuscript. The captions and legends on tables and figures must be sufficiently descriptive for them to be understandable without reference to the text.
Figures
Figures should have a caption and be on a separate page of the manuscript on a scale large enough to allow for reduction. The dimensions of figure axes must be clearly labeled.
Footnotes
Footnotes should be numbered consecutively.
References
Citations in the text or footnotes should give only the name(s) of the author(s) and year of publication. At the end of the manuscript there should be a list of references.
Authors of accepted manuscripts will receive detailed instructions on how to prepare their final version.
